Pappelina
Founded around the year 2000, Swedish designer Lina Richardsson's Pappelina brand has since been known primarily for its high-quality rugs. After Lina Richardsson discovered her passion for weaving and presented her self-made products - linen rugs and paper placemats - to a boutique for the first time, Lina Richardsson made it her goal to become a professional weaver.
It all started with a rug made of plastic - the Pappelina success story
It was at this point that the name of her future successful company was born: Pappelina, a play on words made up of "Paper", "Linen" and "Lina". Her label, at that time consisting of only one person - herself, made its breakthrough with a novel weaving technique for carpets made of plastic. The innovative idea was an immediate success, and today Pappelina is internationally known and employs over 40 people, still in Dalarna, Sweden. Today, Papellina sells not only carpets, but also pillows, blankets and lighting.
From design to finished carpet
Pappelina's products, like the popular Vera rug, are all meticulously handmade. From the initial design to the finished product, the rug goes through a series of production stations. Lina Richardsson's design is digitized and processed by a digital weaving program. Trained eyes now decide how to practically implement the founder's design. In painstaking detail and manual work, the 600-meter thread is fed into the loom and the threads are woven together. The result must be accurate down to the millimeter. Any carpet that does not meet Pappelina's meticulous quality standards is sorted out. Only a perfect carpet is allowed to leave the warehouse. Genuine craftsmanship and guaranteed quality: that is Pappelina.
