Chopsticks
Chopsticks - for true lovers of Asian cuisine
Anyone who appreciates Asian cuisine would like to enjoy the numerous specialties in an authentic way. In the Asian cuisine, all ingredients are usually cut into bite-sized pieces, so that no knives are needed at the table. With the help of two chopsticks the food is grabbed and brought it to the mouth. The chopsticks are placed on small rests, for which the Japanese name "Hashioki" is usually used in this country.
The traditional chopsticks in Asian cultures
Chopsticks can be made of various materials such as bamboo, wood or metal. Particularly beautiful pieces are even carved by hand or made of high-quality silver. There are further differences in length. While the Chinese traditionally serve themselves from the bowls in the middle of the table and therefore need long chopsticks, in Japan every guest gets his own plate. There, as well in Taiwan, the chopsticks are shorter, as the rice bowls are also brought to the mouth. In Taiwan, it is also common practice to give guests a spoon for the fluidly ingredients of the dishes.
