Dedon Loon

Since 1990, the Lüneburg-based company Dedon has stood for high-quality outdoor furniture, which, due to its quality, is also popular for indoor use. Characteristics of production: interesting designs by world-renowned designers, the highest quality in materials and craftsmanship, modern technologies, in many cases the use of Dedon's own synthetic Dedon Fiber®. Dedon's portfolio also includes some interestingly designed and decorative lamps, such as the Loon floor lamp designed by Sebastian Herkner.

Sebastian Herkner is a well-known young German designer who developed the Mbrace collection for Dedon, the first time the combination of Dedon fiber with teak was successfully practiced for an outdoor furniture by Dedon. Herkner also uses such a combination of plastic and teak in Loon - a lamp for outdoors and indoors. The luminaire, which is available in two sizes, won the ICONIC Award in 2018. With its shape reminiscent of a balloon, it presents itself as a kind of "light container" that provides its pleasantly warm light both indoors and outdoors.

Loon - convincing design and function

Herkner uses solid, natural-colored teak for the base and fixture of this floor lamp: the fixture consists of a narrow ring of solid teak, which stands on three small legs. Set into this ring is the shade of the lamp; it is made of pressed polyethylene and is white in color. What is convincing about the floor lamp is that it does not require any wiring. Its built-in LED module with a pleasantly warm light temperature is powered by a rechargeable battery. The lighting duration with a fully charged battery is a pleasing approx. 10 hours. The battery is rechargeable. The light of the floor lamp is dimmable via a remote control.

Loon - interesting and versatile home accessory

Actually, Sebastian Herkner, who is highly sensitive in the formal design and the use of materials, conceived his two lamps Loon as an accompanying element to his collection Mbrace. In the meantime, these floor lamps have proven themselves in their own right and show that they can be useful and interesting additions to many of Dedon's collections. No wonder: Loon with its original independent and yet unobtrusive design - for standing alone or combined - fits into many living situations and is able to set charming accents.
