Dedon

Dedon - magical outdoor living

We tend more and more to spend time outdoors during the warm season. The trend is clearly towards making ourselves comfortable in the garden, on the terrace and balcony or by the pool area. Dedon has recognized these signs of the times early and provides the matching, beautiful and luxurious garden furniture collections. They are pioneering in the quality of materials, manufacturing and design. In the meantime, the company, founded in 1990 and based in Lüneburg, has become one of the world's leading developers and manufacturers of outdoor furniture. The decisive approach to this was given by the high-quality synthetic fiber developed by Dedon founder Robert "Bobby" Dekeyser. It was and is the basis for the creation of a generation of new garden furniture. In combination with a successful, modern design, an unmistakable style has emerged. For the creations of the product range of Dedon stand big names of internationally known designers, - guarantors of a design at a sophisticated high level.

The Dedon fiber - unique material

The first element in the development of Dedon garden furniture - the "initial spark" - was the invention of a synthetic fiber, which the founder of the company Bobby Dekeyser succeeded in the early 1990s. Dedon fiber is produced from plastic in a special process based on polyethylene. Here, a very specific, sophisticated process is used to mix and specially produce the fiber, which is melted using a special technique and then injected - extruded - post treated and set. Due to this complex manufacturing process, it obtains a very high quality of use, is highly weatherproof, temperature resistant, non-toxic, easy to clean and resistant to UV radiation. At the same time, it is soft, flexible, easy to shape and process. What's more, it simply looks and feels great. Not enough: it is also produced sustainably and is recyclable; an idea to which Dedon attaches particular importance. All these properties of the material - in combination with appropriately good and careful processing allow excellent production of garden furniture. Such high-quality material guarantees stability and almost indestructible durability. These are required when woven furniture is constantly outdoors and used intensively there.

Dedon - impressive workmanship and quality

Just as consistent as the development of the material is the process of manufacturing at Dedon. Insofar as production cannot be carried out at the Lüneburg site, it takes place in a place where the art of weaving has a good history and a long tradition: on the Philippine island of Cebu. There, the multiple award-winning collections such as Dedon Swingrest are made purely by hand in their own manufactory. Each piece of furniture is thus unique and combines state-of-the-art European technology with traditional wickerwork. The entire line of production, every single phase of the manufacture of its outdoor furniture - from the production of the fiber to the finish and delivery - is fully integrated into its own company, Dedon. Thus, Dedon demonstrates a perfectionism that ensures the quality of its garden furniture to the last detail.

Dedon - captivating design from the joy of life and living

As an essential third element, the high quality of the design, of form and function, is added to the quality of material and workmanship. Dedon garden furniture captivates with extravagant yet clear and convincingly beautiful shapes and a high level of comfort. All this has the effect that they are not only a pleasure to look at, but also very happy to use and "live in". The design is striking and characteristic. No wonder, since these extraordinary creations were created by world-renowned designers such as Phillipe Starck, Richard Frinier, Stephen Burks and Jean-Marie Massaud.

You can feel the creative power given to Dedon furniture by its designers, which is also somewhat reflected in the name of the collections. "Orbit" is just without a doubt "something different" and something delightfully beautiful. The futuristic design breaks with our conventional habits and redefines the idea of furniture. One would like to and can sink wonderfully into the large, round sofa islands. "Barcelona" - also by Richard Frinier - is a great ensemble: a furniture as a tribute to a metropolis, as a place to enjoy passion and the pleasures of life. The massive shapes and generous dimensions contrast excitingly with the exceptionally delicate wicker design. In the "Lounge" series designed by Frank Lighthart, the clear lines of the basic modular principle are most striking. Here, new seating landscapes can be formed again and again, which can be combined to form a wide variety of units. In the case of the "Nestrest" designed by Daniel Pouzet and Fred Frety, the name alone speaks for itself: this garden furniture - modeled on an oversized bird's nest - is ideal for safe moments of relaxation, meditation, conversation - and all this in the open air. "Dala" by Stephen Burks signals elegantly rounded, modern comfort. Sebastian Herkner's Nordic-inspired "Dedon Mbrace" collection combines Dedon fiber with solid teak for the first time, showing off a cheerful and unconventional take on poolside, lounge and dining areas.
