Outdoor luminaires

In addition to excellent luminosity, luminaires for outdoor use must have special weather-resistant properties to ensure that they function properly all year long, even if they get wet. Most common are wall luminaires mounted on the exterior walls of houses and garages, on carports and garden sheds, as well as luminaires that illuminate paths or entire garden areas in the dark. Often outdoor lights are equipped with a motion detector and / or light sensor, with which the light turns on automatically when there is movement or darkness and, if desired, turns off again after a while. Many of these lights are also equipped with LED modules, which are energy-saving and long-lasting. With lights from the East Westphalian manufacturer IP44, for example, even large facade walls and outdoor areas can be artfully illuminated.

Luminaires that can be used outdoors can also be found at the German company Dedon, which is known for its unusual and high-quality collections for outdoor use. Its luminaires made of weather-resistant materials, such as the sculpture-like luminaire series "The Others", provide an atmospheric ambience. Their weave of Dedon fiber is extremely weather and light resistant as well as insensitive to chlorine and salt water.
