Without an illuminant, lamps and luminaires cannot fulfill their function. Whether chandelier, pendant lamp, table lamp or floor lamp: all lamps and luminaires need a light source that illuminates the room and at the same time creates a certain mood. This depends very much on the brightness and tone of the light. LED and halogen lamps, the classic incandescent bulb and other light sources each create a different mood with their warm, white or subdued light, which also changes by the choice of lampshade.

These criteria influence the choice of the illuminant

The choice of illuminant depends on several criteria. Firstly, the intended use plays an important role, and secondly, the energy efficiency class. Modern, long-lasting illuminants from well-known manufacturers such as VITA Copenhagen differ significantly from the classic light bulb in this respect. In addition, the luminosity as well as the compatibility of the holders are also decisive. Accordingly, not every illuminant fits any lamp. Accessories such as lampshades and frames, cables and suspensions help to make the most of luminaires and lamps.
