Wittmann Fledermaus chair - Product information
Wittmann Möbelwerkstätten - a company founded back in 1896 in Lower Austria - has gained international prominence since the middle of the last century. The craftsmanship of the furniture is excellent. The fine and original style of Wittmann furniture is significantly influenced by the fact that this company cooperates with interesting artists and designers, but also takes high-quality and original designs of traditional designers.
A fine example of this is the Fledermaus furniture, a seating group designed by the famous Viennese Josef Hoffmann in 1907 especially for the local cabaret Fledermaus. This furniture captivates with its skillfully idiosyncratic design. Both the runners of the furniture and the wooden balls at the connecting points are typical features of Josef Hoffmann's creative skills. Even today, they are convincing examples of the high art of bentwood processing - still cultivated in the Wittmann manufactory.
The frame of the chair is sturdy, made of beech wood, stained black; the backrest and seat frame are made of bentwood. To protect the floor, it has metal glides. For the cover of the seat and backrest upholstery, there is a wide range of fabric and leather types to choose from. Upon request, special materials selected by our customers can also be processed. Due to the individual manual production, this beautiful furniture has longer delivery times.
The Fledermaus chair is part of an ensemble designed by Josef Hoffmann, which also includes a stool and a side table. With these elements, of course, it harmonizes particularly well. However, it is also appreciated as a solitair or in combination with other, more minimalist furniture.
