The best Italian tradition in manufacturing, form and function: for over half a century, the Piedmontese family business Alessi has been producing utensils and accessories for the table and kitchen of the highest quality. Original, skillful designs and functional objects, some of which are now design classics. More about Alessi and its portfolio at the bottom of this page ...

Alessi - Italian design with tradition

The internationally renowned company Alessi was founded in 1921 by Giovanni Alessi Anghini as a foundry and metal workshop in Piedmont. As early as the 1950s, restaurants, hotels and airlines discovered Alessi's high-quality metal products, fruit baskets, bowls, sugar bowls and kettles for their kitchens and guest rooms. Many renowned designers have since designed products for Alessi - and so today Alessi stands not only for outstanding materials and excellent workmanship, but above all for many timeless design classics and skillfully Italian design. Materials such as stainless steel and high-quality plastics still form the core of Alessi's product range. However, the company also uses exclusive woods and glass. The craftsmanship is excellent.

Alessi - the collections

Three major brands gather under the name Alessi. They are not separate and independent entities, but different program focus of the company.

For more than 50 years, the Alessi brand has offered a wide range of exquisite design products in the housewares sector, such as the legendary design classic Juicy Salif, a lemon squeezer designed by Philippe Starck, the kettles by Michael Graves and Richard Sapper, or the popular Birillo series with its exclusive bathroom accessories by Piero Lissoni. As a set of seemingly randomly arranged tableware pieces, the Alessi Tonale series achieved great fame, characterized by Far-Eastern understated design, designed by David Chipperfield.

A di Alessi presents a collection that can be described as "democratic" design: the best design at affordable prices. In addition to colorful series such as Banana or Paradise Birds by Stefano Giovannoni, original Christmas figures by Massimo Giacon, Marcello Jori or Laura Polinoro, among others, gather under the A di Alessi name.

The label OFFICINA ALESSI marks creations with an exclusive, experimental and innovative design claim. Usually these are produced only in small numbers or even in limited editions. Top-class architects and designers like Richard Sapper or Aldo Rossi designed the exquisite products for this noble collection. The "Tea and Coffee Piazza" project, for example, brought Alessi international recognition as one of the leading representatives of postmodern design.
