Bolichwerke

Bolichwerke - 100 years of tradition and progress

In 1911, Eugen Bolich founded the company Bolich & Neuhäusel in Offenbach/Main with the focus on manufacturing reflectors, lighting and electrical products. As early as 1912, the company is transformed into Bolichwerke. A few years later, Bolich builds a factory for the production of luminaires in his German home town of Odenheim in Baden. The company is still located there today. In 1960, after the death of the company founder, his brother took over the company and later his sons. Despite much turmoil in the company's history, Bolichwerke is still a German family business whose goal was and still is to create inspiring and convincing lighting technology. For this, the Bolichwerke are now known worldwide. Film and television have also discovered Bolich lamps for their lighting effects.

Design lamps for living spaces and industry

The materials used for the design lamps are sheet steel, aluminum, copper and brass. All lamps have E27 sockets made of high quality ceramic. Experienced skilled workers produce the metal reflectors of the individual lamps in elaborate processes - by machine and partly by hand. Printing forms are used as models, according to which the lampshade is cut, punched, bent, perforated and welded together. Powder coating and stove enamelling give the reflector its final appearance. This is followed by final assembly with lampholder and cable. In addition to prefabricated lamps for residential and industrial use, Bolichwerke also specializes in individual custom-made products and the production of small series.

From 2000, Bolichwerke, in memory of the company's founder, brought the classic lamps manufactured since the founding period increasingly into the spotlight. With the collection EBOLICHT they triggered a real retro trend. Due to their timeless aesthetics, these classic lamps are testimonies of design history. The collection consists of pendant and ceiling lights as well as wall, floor and table lamps. While the EBOLICHT collection is almost entirely available only with a black reflector, the 50 and EBO collections are lighter in color.

Bolichwerke - award winners

The company has received a wide variety of awards for its luminaires. Bolichwerke itself holds an annual competition for young designers with the task of designing a functional lamp for living rooms or offices, which is then produced by Bolich. Beforehand, the contest participants are given two factory tours to familiarize themselves with the technologies and production.
