Dedon Dala

Dedon Dala is a series of garden furniture from the renowned manufacturer Dedon, which for this unusual ensemble was able to engage the young designer Stephen Burks, who is considered a rising star of his generation.

The chairs and tables of the Dala collection are easy to move without much effort, because they have handles on the backs that allow you to put them in shady spots under trees or in the best sunny spot by the pool. Parts of the collection are a lounge chair, a large sofa island, a coffee table and a stool that also serves as a side table, as well as some accessories. The organic shapes, with their colorful weave and pattern, have a relaxing effect: "Everything about them is round and curvy," says designer Stephen Burks, describing his collection, "so there's no predetermined seating position either."

Organic shapes, innovation and environmental awareness

The round, flowing shapes, playful tummy of the Dedon Dala collection are reminiscent of traditional Indian or Morroccan seat cushions and are what make this unusual collection so appealing. A new, innovative garb for an oriental-looking seating group. It's not just the design that's innovative - Stephen Burks has also chosen the materials with care: Ribbons of 60% recycled food and beverage packaging are wrapped around aluminum frames; only 40% of the material is virgin polypropylene. Artisans at Dedon's production facility in the Philippines weave the material by hand directly onto the aluminum frames. "It looks like they're weaving through a fence," says Stephen Burks, describing the process.

Dedon Dala - pure relaxation

Designer Stephen Burks (*1969) is a traveler and designer in one. You can also see this in the garden furniture of the Dedon Dala collection and its diverse influences. For more than ten years he has been bridging the gap between authentic handicraft, industrial production and contemporary design. Since 2005, he has worked with various charities - Aid to Artisans, the Clinton Global Initiative, Design Network Africa, Artesanias de Colombia or Nature Conservancy - to bring together the artisan, the designer and global brands.

For his commitment and work, Stephen Burks has received many awards and prizes. He lives and works in New York.
