Ottoman - a piece of furniture with many faces

Originally, an ottoman was a sofa-like upholstered bench that had semicircular armrests. The form of an ottoman varies constantly between different centuries. An ottoman may also have a backrest that does not extend across the entire back or does not have an armrest on the free side. Modern ottomans are more of a reclining sofa without a backrest - and thus very similar to the chaise longue and recamiere. Especially in American-English usage, the noun "ottoman" is common - English "footstool", but here it describes an upholstered footstool that can also be used for sitting.

An ottoman can be made of different materials

As with many other pieces of garden furniture, an ottoman can be made of different materials. In the outdoor area, you should make sure that the materials are also suitable for this use. If you value design in addition to comfort and functionality, you will certainly find it in the premium segment. For outdoor use, high-tech fibers are excellent. These should be weather-resistant and remain attractive even after long use, such as the Dedon fiber specially developed by Dedon. In addition to being durable and weatherproof, it is also environmentally friendly. The fiber is pliable, making it easier for weavers to tie them into perfectly shaped patterns. The Dedon fiber was developed back in 1990 by the company's founder Robert Dekeyser and is still the most important part of Dedon's furniture.

Dedon Dala - attractive design and quality workmanship

If an ottoman is also called a "footstool" in American, you can also find a so-called "footstool" at Dedon, along with many other pieces of garden furniture. This chair is a stool on which you can optionally put legs or also sit down. For the Dedon Dala collection, Stephen Burks was inspired by the simple seating typical in developing countries, which are characterized by their high craftsmanship. The furniture of the collection brings structure and surface in harmony and can hereby convince one hundred percent. The frame of the Dedon Dala stool is made of a powder-coated aluminum expanded metal. A new type of eco-fiber is threaded through the aluminum grid. The fiber used is obtained from recycled food packaging and recycled pole ethylene - this innnovative idea comes from Dedon. The Dala program includes not only a stool that can be converted into a side table, but also a comfortable armchair - a so-called loveseat - and a practical coffee table. The furniture can be combined with each other as desired and together create a harmonious overall picture. The Dala furniture is available in different colors and with different colored upholstery. So you can decide individually which color pattern and upholstery color fits best in your personal environment of garden, terrace and balcony.
